Who we are

This website and the TheYachtAVIT Knowledge Hub service are operated by TheYachtAVIT (info@theyachtavit.com). TheYachtAVIT provides independent AV/IT consultancy, vessel knowledge and support services for superyachts.

The website

The only personal information this website collects is what you choose to send through the contact form: your name, email address, an optional vessel or company name, and your message. The site sets no analytics or advertising cookies and runs no behavioural trackers.

Form submissions are delivered by email to TheYachtAVIT’s inbox. The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and form messages are relayed by an email delivery provider acting as a processor.

The Knowledge Hub iPhone app

The iPhone app contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK or cross-app tracking. It does not send advertising identifiers or behavioural telemetry to TheYachtAVIT or an advertising platform.

When an authorised user chooses a Knowledge Hub found on the vessel’s local network, the app communicates directly with that Hub. Login details are submitted to the selected Hub and are not stored by the app. If the user enables saved access, a random app-install identifier and the iPhone’s user-visible device name are sent to that Hub. The resulting revocable credential is protected by the iOS Keychain; the app does not store the Hub password.

The app stores the remembered Hub connection on the iPhone so it can offer that Hub next time. The bundled offline demo uses fictional information and does not contact a Hub or require an account.

Vessel Knowledge Hub information

A live Knowledge Hub may contain user accounts, authentication audit records, support tickets, service requests, vessel records and documents supplied by authorised users. That information is held for the operation, security and support of the vessel-specific Hub. Depending on the service arrangement, the vessel owner, manager or another customer entity may control those records, and TheYachtAVIT accesses them only where authorised to provide the agreed service.

Onboard Assistant

The Knowledge Hub handles exact vessel facts and access checks locally first. Where the Hub operator has enabled cloud reasoning, an eligible request may send limited sanitised information to OpenAI to produce guidance. Vessel-grounded requests use a bounded pseudonymised technical context designed to remove direct identifiers such as vessel names, IP and MAC addresses, hostnames, credentials and navigable configuration. Pseudonymised information is not anonymous, and combinations of technical details may still identify an installation.

Assistant provider requests are configured with store: false. This is not a promise that no provider-side security, abuse-monitoring, network, contractual or legal processing occurs. Users must not enter passwords, recovery codes, private keys, VPN secrets or API tokens in Assistant chat.

The Hub keeps local Assistant audit records for operator support and incident investigation. These can include a redacted question and answer associated with the signed-in user, role and vessel, and may still contain operational or personal information. The standard retention period is up to 90 days unless the Hub operator configures a documented alternative. Clearing visible chat does not itself delete those operator audit records.

Why, and on what basis

Contact details are used to respond to enquiries and carry out requested or contracted services. Hub account and operational records are used to provide, secure and support the Knowledge Hub. The applicable basis will depend on the context and may include legitimate interests, taking steps at your request, performance of a contract, or the instructions of the relevant customer.

Sharing

Personal information is not sold. It is shared only with service providers needed to operate the website or agreed service, with the relevant vessel or management organisation where appropriate, or where required by law.

Retention

Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any resulting work. Knowledge Hub records are retained according to the vessel’s service arrangement, operational needs and security requirements. Saved app access expires or can be revoked, and removing a remembered Hub deletes its credential from that iPhone.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may be able to ask for a copy of personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, or raise a concern. Email info@theyachtavit.com. If the relevant information is controlled by a vessel owner or management company, the request may need to be referred to that organisation.

Changes

If how the website, iPhone app or Knowledge Hub handles information changes, this page will be updated.
